Liverpool Blitz Hero Remembered.

Its easy to forget the role that the Royal Pioneer Corps played in the war. A local hero Corporal James Scully was remembered, through the sale of his medals recently.
George Scully's George Cross and two other of his medals made £72,000 at a saleroom that was consigned by the family. It was the first time that the brave Corporal's medals had come onto the market

After The £53 Million Pounds Vase-The Treasures Of Chinese Porcelain on the BBC.

After the shock of a Chinese vase selling for 53 million pounds, yes 53 million pounds, a new series has just started on the BBC.
Considering the vase was was valued as a clever copy it is even more suprising.

“The piece was sold by a 70-year-old woman and her son and daughter. We were clearing her brother's house after he died and I looked at the vase and said: Oh, that looks nice'. It had just sat on the bookcase doing absolutely nothing.
“They told me it had been valued at just £800 two months earlier. They also told me the owner had taken it on Going For A Song on the BBC about 40 years ago. He was told it was a very clever reproduction.”

Auction Party-At Liverpool Town Hall.

I was recently asked to film a episode of Auction Party with Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen at Liverpool Town Hall.

I wasn't too sure at first, but they said the fee was £150, and that convinced me so off I toddled on a cold winter night the whole 100 yds stretch from my shop to the beautiful Liverpool Town Hall.

It was great fun the programme is all about raising money for charity and I struck up a relationship with St Johns Hospice afterwards and sell some of their donated objects for them.

Liverpool Town Hall should look great and although I have not watched it myself yet have been informed that it does the city proud

Without any prompting Lawrence who walked the walk, talked the talk about Liverpool great heritage assets such a our Town Hall.

The Penny Lane Jazz Band-Sefton Park Bandstand 26th June 2011

They have been swinging along quietly for 6 months chipping away putting a set together.
This Sunday in Sefton Park we get the chance to put a few old standards together for a public performance.
After a few different musicians who have come and gone.
80 year old Charlie Walcom on base will be holding rhythm along with Peter Carfoot on guitar. Peter Higham on trumpet will be spicing up the event.
John Lister on Alto sax and myself on Clarinet hope to make it a good day out lets hope the sun shines.
Our rehearsal rooms are in the Penny Lane Community Centre, guess where, that is.
That's the recently restored building with the massive musical Memphis style gates.
It seemed the obvious choice of name really.
We will be playing music from Miles Davis, Freddie Freeloader a bit of Duke Ellington and the likes of the old standard Witchcraft along with many others.

I was recently asked to take part in an ITV programme called Auction Party hosted by Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen. This should go out around March 21st.
It was all good fun and its nice to help raise money for charity, especially St Johns Hospice.
The filming was done at the sumptous Liverpool Town Hall chandeliers and all.
